Mentorship with Aubry Ramsey Photography - Fun and Games Photos

At Fun and Games Photo, we firmly believe there is power in community, and that it supersedes competition. Of course, there are so many photographers in our region, and we know you can choose anyone to capture your milestones and memories, but we are grateful for our incredible clients, and always striving to become better. We recently had the opportunity to study under Aubry Ramsey Photography in a peer mentorship. Aubry is a leader in our industry, and one of Texas’ top experts. This experience was not just a professional milestone, but also such a testament to the power of collaboration and mentorship. We wanted to share a little about how this enriched us (and of course, share the incredible photos we created together!)

From the moment we met Aubry, we knew we had something really special in store. Her reputation as a top-tier photographer speaks volumes about her talent and dedication (did you know she’s booked out for YEARS?!). However, it was her personality and heart that really drew us in. As an innovator, her approach to photography is meticulous, creative, and deeply personal. During our sessions, she walked us through her process, from the initial concept to the final edit. We learned new techniques for lighting, composition, and post-processing that have already begun to transform our work. One thing we also focused on was how to capture the authentic emotions that Aubry is so gifted at…we learned that deep connection is one of her biggest secrets, and that her genuine interest in her clients is what translates into her stunning images. The hands-on guidance she provided allowed us to refine our techniques and broaden our creative horizons. Aubry’s constructive feedback was invaluable, providing us with insights that we might have overlooked on our own.

In the competitive world of photography, it’s easy to see other photographers as rivals. However, our time with Aubry reinforced the idea that collaboration and community are far more powerful than competition. Photography is not just about capturing moments; it’s about telling stories, and the best stories are the ones born out of collaboration. Having a mentor like Aubry has given us new tools and renewed confidence in our abilities. It’s a reminder that no matter how experienced we become, there is always something new to learn and someone new to learn from. We are now more committed than ever to seeking out mentorship opportunities and, in turn, mentoring others.
